MASTERS OF THE FANTASTIC: THE GREATEST WORKS OF THE FANTASTIC GENRE
Masterpieces of the fantasy genre and literature.
Masters of the Fantastic is another of the many RBA book collections currently in circulation. This collection is a 19th-century library, where a series of writers opened the doors to previously unexplored fictional universes, revealing in their books the strange, the creepy, and the wonderful, and pushing the reader's imagination to the limit.
The emergence of fantasy literature coincided with an explosion of interest in books, thus beginning a true Golden Age of book design and bookbinding.
This collection revives the luxurious designs of the era. The motifs depicted, inspired by modernism, art deco, and the Arts & Crafts movement, along with the gold foil stamping, give each book a unique character and great value.
- G. Wells, Mary Shelley, Edgar Allan Poe, and H.P. Lovecraft are some of the pioneers of the genre. Their extraordinary creativity continues to amaze us today.
How can we forget one of the most terrifying stories we've heard over the years, Dracula?
“Jonathan Harker travels to foggy Transylvania to close a trade deal with a mysterious Count Dracula, who resides in a dark, lonely castle. The nightmare begins when Harker discovers his host's sinister intentions, but he will be powerless to stop him from leaving the tomb where he has resided for centuries and arriving in England to quench his thirst for blood and thus prolong his eternal undead state.”
The work was an immediate and overwhelming success: a myth was born, and today it is possible to read this and many other chilling stories.
How many installments will this collection have?
RBA publishing has compiled the collection of 70 books. If the collection is not reduced or expanded, the predominant author will be H.G. Wells, who will contribute nine books to the collection, followed by Edgar Allan Poe, Edgar Rice Burroughs, Arthur Conan Doyle, Jack London, and Howard Phillips Lovecraft with four books each. Why start reading this genre?
In Masters of the Fantastic, you'll find stories that never die. While it's a collection that could be improved, because there's undoubtedly something missing, it's a good starting point for those who want to learn about the genre or those who want to collect all the works that remind them of how far they were able to take their vision of the future through literature.
Without a doubt, rereading all these editions reminds us of our own history and looks at the society that surrounds us, to wish we could see it from a different perspective, with much, much more imagination. Who would have imagined how they lived more than 200 years ago, trying to escape reality with stories that intrigue us today? It's a new life written on paper by the most creative authors who explored the unimaginable for the human eye, but which opens a new world for our minds.
