Raúl Anaya Soto was a distinguished photojournalist from Jalisco who freelanced for major national newspapers and magazines. He was passionate about journalism. He lived for the news, he pursued it. This inspired him to travel throughout Mexico, capturing the country's life with his cameras from the 1940s to 1981.

This photograph is one of more than 7,000 images that make up the Raúl Anaya Collection of the Televisa Foundation Collection and Archive. This collection includes color negatives and transparencies that portray both political and artistic figures, as well as the social issues of Mexico in the second half of the 20th century.

A tireless lover of his profession, Raúl Anaya had no predilection for any particular subject: he photographed prominent politicians as well as personalities of all kinds: athletes, painters, sculptors, historians, and people from the entertainment industry (national and international actors and actresses). He did not forget to include the common people. Workers, peasants, laborers, indigenous people, and many other occupations were captured in his photographs. Some of his notable photographic series include his recording of colonial and pre-Hispanic architecture, the urban progress of Mexico, the assassination of US President John F. Kennedy, the 1968 Olympics, and the 1970 World Cup.
